OUR STORY
Founded in 2012 by two hockey buddies in an 800 sq. ft. warehouse, The Florida CANE Distillery was created with the vision of using local ingredients to make world-class spirits. Six years later, we are the only craft distillery in the nation to have developed over 32 spirits and five brands. We currently market our most successful products throughout the state of Florida in liquor stores, premier amusement parks, and over 100 restaurants.
The Florida CANE Distillery also runs a retail shop, adjacent to the distillery, which is a much-visited tourist attraction with near-perfect scores on Yelp, Google, and Trip Advisor. In the evening, the shop transforms into a unique bar where patrons learn how to make craft cocktails. Additionally, The Florida CANE Distillery offers the nation’s only hands-on whiskey distilling school that allows students to make their own whiskey, from start to finish, that they take home to age.​
To make our distillery a reality took more than just a business plan and financial backing; we had to make legislative changes to usher in Florida’s recent craft spirits movement. Before 2014, micro-distilleries in Florida were not allowed to sell craft spirits directly to the public, nor be located in commercial areas. With the help of state representatives and local lawmakers, we were able to remove the antiquated, Prohibition-era laws to make our Florida CANE Distillery available to the public.
